Review of American Apparel Women's California Fleece Pant

I have been looking for fleece sweatpants with a drawstring waist to have something comfortable to wear as I recommit myself to an exercise program.These seemed to fit the bill, but after receiving them, there are drawbacks that make them a bad fit for me.

I am admittedly an "average" woman with a bit of extra baggage - I'll put it out there to help others with their purchase - I am 5'4" and 160, and usually wear about a size 12.Most of the time I can wear a medium in ladies sweatpants, occasionally a large.

I ordered an XL due to personal experience (my cousin is 5' tall and 95 pounds and wears a L in Am. Apparel t-shirts, go figure) and due to other reviews stating that American Apparel sizes run small.They were not kidding!Here are my personal pros and cons:

PROS:

Very soft fabric and well made!

CONS:

Runs very small, order up to 2 sizes larger than what you usually would.

VERY low-waisted so if you don't have the perfect figure it either A) won't cover it all or B) won't stay up.

Gets longer as the size goes up so at my height, by the time you order an XL it is approximately 7 inches too long and would have to be shortened.

Fabric is a lot lighter weight than what my assumtion of "fleece" was - it's more of a very lightweight cotton.Beware of panty lines and bulges if you have any.

In summary, if you are built small or are in good shape and like very low rise pants, these would be a great choice for you!

If you have some extra pounds or a few chubby parts here and there, a slightly heavier fabric, higher waist and something that runs more true to size would be a MUCH better choice and fit.Ideally we would all have the perfect figure, but I am a bit skeptical (and weary) of brands where an XL is too small for a whole lot of people.
